Focus on an issue that affects your community. Identify the decision-maker and describe practical actions they can take. Use a clear title and explain why the change matters.
Be accurate and respectful
Support factual claims with public sources where possible. Do not impersonate others, fabricate evidence, or make knowingly false allegations. Avoid harassment, threats, hate speech, and calls for violence.
Protect people’s privacy
Do not publish private addresses, phone numbers, identity documents, confidential records, or other sensitive personal information. Only submit material you have the right to share.
Keep support authentic
No fake identities, automated signatures, spam, fundraising solicitations, or commercial advertising. One person’s confirmed email may sign a petition only once.
Review and moderation
Petitions are reviewed after the creator confirms their email. The BetterGov team may decline or remove petitions that violate these guidelines. Publication does not mean BetterGov endorses every statement in a petition.
Stay constructive
Petitions are a way to organize a collective request. They do not replace official complaints, emergency services, or formal legal processes.
